Summary

This interactive experience offers a dynamic platform for exploring GE electrification portfolio across the energy landscape. Gain high-level insights into our innovative solutions and learn more about how we accelerate the energy transition.

Role & Scope: Design & Visual Lead

I led the end-to-end UX strategy and redesign of portfolio map, focused on improving clarity and conversion.
My work included:

  • Stakeholder alignment across Product, Sales, and Engineering

  • Internal user research and user testing

  • Map illustration design

  • Usability testing and ticket support

Define Goals & Opportunity

GE wanted a thorough, detailed map showcasing their electrification portfolio, designed for both existing and potential business partners. The experience was tailored to a narrow, precise audience: specialist salespeople.

Opportunities

  • Map optimization: transform 2D to 2.5D

  • Visual hierarchy: differentiate colous in current map

  • Information display: concise and clear

Research & Ideation Process

I began by transforming the existing map asset into a 2.5D perspective, assigning a designated color system to each building and section. I then collaborated closely with GE's internal specialists to identify essential information and tags, ensuring all data and headings were accurately displayed.

Strategy

I approached the design based on professional plant specialist feedback.

  1. Progressive disclosure: Identified key information and key CTA placement

  2. Simplified action model: Clarified hierarchy of the map to reduce cognitive load and emphasize next best action.

  3. UX Accuracy: Minimize user error and match the user's expectations and business goals

Solution

Delivered an interactive 3D electrification map paired with a modular design system, helping specialist salespeople navigate GE Vernova's portfolio with clarity and confidence during trade shows.

Key experience features:

  • Immersive 2.5D/3D visualization: Transformed flat map assets into a dimensional experience, using colour-coded buildings and sections to improve spatial orientation

  • Context-aware CTAs: Adaptive next-step guidance aligned with each user's readiness level

  • Customized data insights: Contextual information on each product's features, data points, and specifications, built in collaboration with GE's internal specialists

  • Live analytics: Web analytics feeding back into future optimization, supporting the 30% increase in site traffic

Final Design & Impact

Drove a 30% increase in site traffic, with users revisiting the 3D map after trade shows or immediately following conversations at the booth. Help strengthened conversions, sales outcomes, and brand visibility.
